SCHEDULE:
- Some games from the first half are still not played. These games must be completed.
- Ice is needed for the Championship games. Home associations need to confirm ice availability.
- Questions from the floor were answered
- Standings will be posted for each division
- OUTSTANDING GAMES: Associations failing to comply with games not played will be fined. It is in the Association's bet interest to play all games.
DEADLINES:
- Discussion was held on the declaration deadlines
- Deadline w as too early for some associations
- Do not need early date as A teams are more Community oriented
- Suggested that the first Monday after Labour Day for the AA to declare and 10 days later for the A 's to declare whether there will be an A or AA team within an Association
- Saying what teams you will have and declaring are two different things
- Most people know who and where the players are so declaring is fine but the finalization date can be later
- Open team needs a later date to accommodate the College and University students.
- Cost of extra ice is expensive for some teams
- Many communities don't have ice yet
- Declaration of A teams the biggest concern.
CONCERNS:
- If you declare and then cannot field a team what happens?
- Monitoring of tryouts
- Could have a collective try out for all the AA players
- Declaration: you can host AA team-make sure you have a minimum of 6 players from the home association(suggestion)
- Qualified bench staff and if not qualified make sure they can be qualified by due date
- Associations should talk to discuss number of players in each division and what teams are available
- Using of the Matrix to find the closest association and what other association player can go to
- On website so players can see where they can go
PLANNING:
- Dates less important than process
- Associations are not allowed to proceed with tryouts until the announcements and planning meeting is concluded.
- SEASON PLANNING MEETING to declare whether an Association has an A or AA team will be MAY 1, 2007 AT 7:30 P.M.
- This meeting is necessary to select dates for try outs
- After May 1 a new A or AA team cannot be declared
MOTION: Dave Kelton, Guelph/Chuck Weber, St. Clements
That by June 24, all tryouts are completed and a team is declared AA on June 26. CARRIED
- For the A teams, planning will begin on June 26 and tryouts will be completed by September 9. The meeting will be September 11.
- Note the planning and process is the same for A and AA teams and will be the same group meeting.
PROCESS:
- Process will be discussed at the April WORL meeting
- Andrew Brady, Chuck Weber, Dan Dawson will form the nucleus of the committee to bring back a recommendation on the process to the other associations for discussions and a vote
- Most important that we keep the interest of the players and what this process is doing to them and the game.
