ADP Report – November 2005

- Sheri Markle

Open A Provincials 2006 –

- Some concerns raised from the Southern region teams about having to travel to Sault Ste. Marie to participate in the Provincials this year.

- All teams are encouraged to work to participate at the provincials this year. It will be positive to have an Open Division at the Minor A Provincials

Recreational Teams / Players

- Even though teams are recreational, all players need to be registered on a TRF

- They have a subsidized rate as it falls under Outreach.

Open participation in WORL –

- Happy to confirm that Waterloo Open A and London Open A will participate in the WORL league this year. This will allow the teams to participate in a home and home schedule, encouraging region play.

- Will compete in games against the Belle AA teams as well, again, development of these leagues and divisions.

- will evaluate the Open A and Belle AA games, decision to review if play is adequate and worthwhile.

SWIRL –

- No outstanding issues or concerns at this time.

- League is starting up and registration will be completed for this league as per region’s requirements as well.

CHALLENGE CUP

Date – March 31- April 2nd. Conflicts with the Western and Southern Regionals.

Still looking to find a new venue and a new date. Any association interested?

Requirements:

- 3 pads and central location

- Markham has agreed to host the event no matter where the event is held

- looking at April 7th – 9th for 2006. Plan will be to move back to the 1st weekend of April

- Consideration of both dates as Southern Regionals will probably go back to 2nd weekend of April.

Seeding Teams

I will receive a copy of any adult team TRF’s, this will assist with knowing what Adult teams we have in the region, along with any seeding issues that may come forward.

Keeping our players!!

Associations can be consumed with the worry of keeping our Junior & Belle players involved in the sport; one division that can get left behind is our Open level.

Associations need to keep this division in mind. It is the largest growing division in Ringette!!! Once players get to the Open division – they are usually your lifers and will want to play forever! They turn into being your coaches, officials, mothers, and volunteers on your executive.

Attention to the problem of adults loosing ice time is a concern. I bring this up to your attention as the ADP committee will be reviewing this and ensuring the ORA is aware of the on-going problem.

Our Mitchell Open B Adult team is in need of ice - SWIRL and Western Region is appealing to associations for offers of ice to the Mitchell adult team in order to allow them to meet their requisite number of scheduled SWIRL home games (which is roughly seven (7) games). The contact for the Mitchell team is Pam Schoonderwoerd.  Offers of ice can be forwarded to Pam by e-mail - Pam_Schoonderwoerd@fcmail.amdsb.ca), home phone (519-348-8303) or business phone (519-271-9740).

Thanks for any assistance you can give in order to keep this team of players on the
ice and playing our game is greatly appreciated.
