Subject: Attendance at Regionals'06

Available on the Western Region Web Site, for each association, is a master schedule for your teams attending Regionals a schedule for each division at Regionals, and a master schedule by ice pad for the weekend. It is expected that each association will produce sufficient copies of these documents, including this letter, to distribute to all teams attending. As this is the first time all teams have a chance to review the schedule we have labeled it as "DRAFT" which means that it is still subject to change if errors are discovered but it is the intention that unless major problems are discovered this is the final schedule.

The region, has also published on the Western region web the volunteer schedule allowing associations to pick their assignments on a first come first served basis. Each assignment is 3 hours long and requires two volunteers. The region does not care if an association further breaks down this responsibility as long as there are two volunteers present at all times.

Registration will begin 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday night at West End Arena in the same room as last year. All teams must register before their first game but one volunteer from an organization can accomplish registration for all teams. To register you must bring:

A tournament program will be provided to each team and souvenir copies will be for sale throughout the event. Also available at each venue will be ticket sales on the prize table that will include LOONIE sticks as the grand prize.

Referees are currently a problem. I understand that we are in need of senior officials. Please remember that without officials the event cannot occur and do what you can to encourage the referees in your association to attend.

The decision on shot clocks is still under discussion. Qualified Shot Clock operators are the concern both the work of filling the assignments and the work of managing this portion of the game.

As with all previous years, Bunny teams will each get two games, all teams will receive a medal at the end of their second game and all Bunny games will be curfewed at 50 minutes from the time the Zamboni leaves the ice.

All round robin games may end in a tie, all medal games will play to a winner. Each team is required to be ready to go on the ice 10 minutes before scheduled start time and there will be only a 3 minute warm up period after the Zamboni leaves the ice.

Western Region will endeavor to have an executive member in each arena (one in the double pad arenas) during the complete event to represent the region if problems arise but the tournament office will be at West End and any major problems must be brought to this venue for resolution.

The Western Region Code of Conduct is in effect for this tournament with a no tolerance policy. Please remember that this tournament is for the enjoyment of all.

Have a great tournament and may all your experiences be positive.
