Reminder to all associations with teams playing in the U09 (Bunny) division.



U9 (Bunny/Novice) Events

All associations hosting a U9 division must use the following rules:

  • 50 minutes of game time;
    Do not switch ends between periods..just reset the clock and go

  • Warm-up: 3 minutes on clock

  • Run time (do not stop the clock)
    21 minutes with a 3 min auto buzzer or
    Buzz manually at 18:00, 15:00, 12:00, 9:00, 6:00, and 3:00

  • Refs MUST call (and should explain to the player)

    1. Players not passing over the blue line
    2. Two line passes
    3. Players in the goal crease on goals
    4. Refs should let the coach know to remove players if there are more than 3 in the zone

  • Ring placement (on buzzer):
    Beginning- Visiting Team
    Half time- Home team
    At shift change buzzer- the team in possession of the ring on the buzzer gets the ring at the closes free pass circle - for defensive possession in the zone - goalie ring

  • a maximum of one coach per team on the ice;

  • no touching of the opposition players by the coaches;

  • no double shifting unless the number of players available during that game warrant,

  • and all players are to be used equally in double shifting;

  • own players should not be physically moved into position by a coach during playing time;

  • coaches may not impede the on ice officials(s).

Western Region would like to add:

We will be celebrating our U9 Bunny games with 50 minutes of pure excitement, but remember that all U9 games will be curfewed to 50 minutes. All teams will be receiving medals after their second game.
