All ORA & Ringette Canada rules will apply for the Western Qualifiers Tournament.

Exception: There will be no overtime in round-robin games; each team will receive 1 point for a tie


SHOT CLOCKS: The 30-second shot clock will be used for ALL games.


GAME LENGTH: All games will be two 15 min. periods.

CODE OF CONDUCT: Any person who interferes with the game or verbally abuses or harasses an official, player or bench staff will be asked to leave the playing area and not to return. The HEAD COACH will be notified by an on-ice official to remove the person. If the person refuses to leave the arena playing area after a reasonable period of time, the game will be called and the team that the person is associated with will forfeit the game.


Tournament Rules

  1. All ORA rules will be followed unless otherwise specified.

  2. All members of the bench staff must sign the game sheet 20 minutes prior to game time.

  3. Game sheets will not be preprinted. Coaches are responsible for filling out all players names and numbers on the game sheet including indication of any approved substitute players.

  4. The Home team shall have the choice of sweater colour in case of conflict.

  5. Teams must be ready to go on the ice TEN MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED GAME TIME. Failure to ice a team within 5 minutes of notification to begin the game may result in forfeiture of the game.

  6. Three minutes will be allowed for on-ice warm-up for all games. Teams may not commence warm-up until scheduled game time unless otherwise advised. In case of ice constraints, this may be reduced to two minutes for round robin games.

  7. Warm-up time will commence when the Zamboni doors are closed.

  8. In the event of a goalie injury or the goalie receives a major or misconduct penalty, a maximum of 5 minutes will be allow to replace the goalie with an eligible team-mate.

  9. The 30-second shot clock will be use for all games. In case of mal-function of the shot clock, the game will continue without shot clock.

  10. Round Robin games tied at the end of regulation or curfewed play remain tied with each team receiving one point.

  11. Semi-Final and Championship Games tied at the end of regulation time will continue into overtime. Overtime will consist of Fifteen-minute stop time, sudden victory periods until there is a winner.

  12. There will not be running time in any Provincial Qualifiers games.

  13. No player substitutions will be allowed unless documented proof showing a team is unable to compete without said substitution(s) (below 10 skaters, goaltender(s) excluded)

  14. All substitutions MUST be pre-approved by G&T.

  15. A maximum of three (3) player substitutions.

  16. Mini Games: Any tie in the standings which will result in a team not being able to participate in a medal game, will require mini-games to be played to determine who will participate in that medal game. Example - 3 teams tied for 2nd place - the tie-breaking procedures determine 2nd place, then mini-game to eliminate a team from proceeding.

All medal presentations will take place on ice as long as time permits.
