TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD


The Team Sportsmanship Award is a very prestigious award to receive. The team(s) who shall receive this award should be proud of the fact that the participants in their division had input into the final decision.


Each team and each on-ice official will rate the teams they are on the ice with. To assist you in rating the teams, please use the following guidelines:


At the end of every game, each team shall rate the sportsmanlike qualities of the team they have just played, using a scale of 5 – 1:


    1. 5 – Excellent, 4 – Good, 3 – Fair, 2 – Poor, 1 – Unsatisfactory

  1. Did the team use abusive language on the ice or behind the bench?

  2. Did the team show concern when there was an injury?

  3. Did the team act in a friendly and courteous manner during the game?

  4. Did the team accept the outcome of the game graciously?

  5. Did the team use foul play tactics during the game?

  6. Did the team display camaraderie off the ice?


The on ice officials will also be asked to rate the teams on the same scale.


When signing the game sheets before the games, pick up the Sportsmanship Rating Form to be filled out after the game. Immediately after the game, when picking up your game sheet, please submit the form to the Arena/Western Convener. The Sportsmanship Committee shall examine the ratings at a meeting after the round robin games. The Committee shall also examine all game sheets for unsportsmanlike, major, misconduct, match, and excessive penalties. Teams shall lose points or be disqualified based on the following points system:



The team with the best ranking within the division will be named to the award.
